The Cedar Rapids Opera Homestay Host Program is an invaluable aspect of what we do – allowing us to bring world-class talent and some of the most promising young singers to our community without the incredible expense of long-term hotel stays. Our artists love getting to know our community through this unique program, and many Hosts make connections that last long beyond the artist’s stay.
Homestay Hosts provide a private bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and laundry access, and an internet connection in a non-smoking home. Stays are generally 3 – 4 weeks for our full-scale productions and 1 – 2 weeks for smaller concerts and recitals. Guest artists keep an exceedingly busy schedule, making them excellent, low-maintenance houseguests or house sitters.
Artists are responsible for their own meals and transportation to and from rehearsals and performances.
Each Homestay Host will receive:
- Two tickets to the production in which your artist is performing
- Invitations to opening night parties and other special events
- Recognition in our program book (deadline permitting)
- The understanding that your help and hospitality truly makes great opera possible
