Papagayo, a new children's opera with words & Music by Edward Barnes, based on “Papagayo: The Mischief Maker” by Gerald McDermott, is going on tour! Our season 29 children's opera features four singers utilizing puppetry to tell the story of the creatures of the rainforest banding together to stop the Moon Dog from eating the moon.

The children's opera brings professional singers participating in our Smith Young Artists program around Cedar Rapids and neighboring communities to perform opera and bring stories to life in a way few children ever get to see. A questions and answers session generally follows to learn more about opera singing and the performing arts.
