Virginia Reed

Virginia Reed (she/they) recently completed a yearlong residency with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City and now considers herself an official Midwesterner.

She is excited to join Cedar Rapids Opera after a recent role debut as Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia) with Central City Opera.

Favorite roles include Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), the title role in La Cenerentola, Sesto (La clemenza di Tito), Olga (Eugene Onegin), and Der Komponist (Ariadne auf Naxos).

They have worked as a Young Artist with Wolf Trap Opera, Central City Opera, and Janiec Opera Company at Brevard Music Center. Reed relishes concert and oratorio work, having performed with the Oratorio Society of New York at Carnegie Hall, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Avery Fisher Hall, and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine.

They look forward to returning to Cedar Rapids to join the cast of Die Fledermaus in January.

Reed holds a BM from Manhattan School of Music and an MM from San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
