Keely Futterer

Praised by Opera News as a “high-quality lyric soprano with a keen verbal nuance,” Keely Futterer is a native of Dover, Arkansas.


In the 25/26 season, she will debut the role of Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus and appear in concert with the Arkansas Symphony in Carmina Burana and with Philharmonia Northwest in Kevin Puts’ Letters from Georgia.


Last season, she debuted at Virginia Opera as Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte and at Chicago Opera Theater as Marcellina in Leonora, while also returning to Madison Opera as Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia and to Wolf Trap Opera as Madame Lidoine in Dialogues des Carmélites.


Other career highlights include Marie in La fille du régiment at Opera Saratoga, Anna Sørensen in Silent Night at Wolf Trap Opera, and numerous appearances with Minnesota Opera, including Musetta in La bohème, Abilene in the world premiere of Edward Tulane, Armida in Rinaldo, and Donna Anna (cover) in Don Giovanni.


She has also sung the title role in Rodelinda at Hudson Hall Opera, Léontine in L'Amant anonyme at Madison Opera, and appeared with The Glimmerglass Festival in Rinaldo, Tenor Overboard, and The Sound of Music.


A champion of new music, she has performed Isabella Beecher in Victoria Bond’s Mrs. President, Witch Mother in the American premiere of Philip Glass’s The Witches of Venice, and Sara Turing in the premiere of The Life and Death(s) of Alan Turing with American Lyric Theatre.
