Chuanyuan Liu

Chinese countertenor Chuanyuan Liu, praised by The New York Times for his “iridescent countertenor” and by Classical Voice North America for his “intense stage presence,” is recognized as one of the leading voices of his generation.


He has performed with The Philadelphia Orchestra, Pittsburgh Opera, Kansas City Symphony, Santa Fe Opera, Aspen Opera Theater, Chautauqua Opera Company, and Opera Saratoga.


In 2024, he earned third prize in Cedar Rapids Opera’s Esther & Myron Wilson Vocal Competition. A Sullivan Foundation Award winner and two-time Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition Semifinalist, Liu holds graduate degrees from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and Bard College Conservatory.


Upcoming engagements include Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms with the Handel Choir of Baltimore.
