
Chad Sonka
Chad Sonka is establishing himself as an artist with a diverse array of skills in the world of voice.
He has performed Marcello in La bohème with Quad Cities Opera, covered Scarpia in Tosca with Central City Opera, sung Marco in Gianni Schicchi with Savannah Music Festival, appeared as Don Quixote in Man of La Mancha with Cedar Rapids Opera, performed Elijah in Elijah at Manhattan School of Music, and King Melchior in Amahl and the Night Visitors with Nevada Opera.
Equally versed in concert repertoire, he made his Carnegie Hall debut in Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem. In 2017, he won first place in the Iowa District of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
Beyond his singing career, Chad is also a director, teacher, and administrator. Since 2017, he has served on the voice and opera faculty at Iowa State University. He is currently President of the Iowa Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and Education and Outreach Coordinator for the Sherrill Milnes VOICE Programs.
