Juan Tello

Tenor Juan Carlos Tello, originally from Mexico City, has built a distinguished artistic career that combines solid academic training with an active presence on the national and international operatic scene.


He began his studies at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música in Mexico City, where he discovered his passion for opera and laid the foundations of his vocal technique. Outside his formal studies, Juan Carlos has worked with renowned private teachers Carlos Aransay (voice teacher) and Andrés Sarre (vocal coach and repertoire specialist).

Juan Carlos broadened his artistic horizons by earning a Master’s degree in Music from the State University of New York, where he studied with Thomas Goodheart. During his time in the United States, he performed as a soloist in significant academic productions, including the roles of Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi, Alfredo in Die Fledermaus, and as a soloist in Carmina Burana.


His international career has taken him to renowned stages and festivals, including:

  • Tamino in Mozart’s The Magic Flute (Miami Music Festival)

  • Oronte in Handel’s Alcina (Chicago Summer Opera)

  • San Giovanni in Handel’s La Resurrezione (Périgord Noir Festival)

  • Mr. Pete in Jodi Goble’s world premiere opera (Savannah Voice Festival)

He has also appeared at the Festival de Música de Cáceres and Lyric Opera Studio Weimar.


Professionally, he has collaborated with the Orquesta Sinfónica del Estado de México in Rossini’s Il Signor Bruschino and La Scala di Seta. In the U.S., he joined the Tri Cities Opera company in New York, performing as cover for Tamino (The Magic Flute), Borsa (Rigoletto), in the ensemble of Rothstein’s All is Calm, and in the title role of Barnes’ Papagayo.


Soon, Juan Carlos will begin an Artist Diploma at the prestigious Schwob School of Music in Columbus, Georgia, further consolidating his artistic training and international profile.
