Charlie and the Wolf
What would have happened if classical composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and jazz saxophonist Charlie Parker had met... and what if they gave each other music lessons?
This winter, Cedar Rapids elementary students were in for a witty and whimsical treat with Charlie and the Wolf, an original commissioned opera for children composed by David Ragland, Jr. with lyrics by Mary McCallum. This charming new opera celebrates uniqueness and reminds us that everyone is playing with the same notes... we just interpret them differently!
Missed the show? Join us on June 18 at 1 pm at the Englert or June 19 at 1 pm at the Cedar Rapids Public Library for a free performance!
January School performances are sponsored in part by Cedar Rapids Community School District, International Paper, Giacoletto Foundation, the Iowa Arts Council, John & Dyan Smith, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
